Dr. Lisa-Marie Smale
Lisa-Marie Smale is a postdoctoral researcher on sustainable medicine use within the Together for greener healthcare programme team. As a pharmacist, she is driven by the ambition to make healthcare more sustainable. The large amounts of medicines wasted in healthcare motivated her to begin her PhD research on sustainable medicine use at Radboud university medical center.
During her PhD, Lisa-Marie developed, implemented, and evaluated several strategies to reduce medicine waste. One example is the world’s first re-dispensing programme for high-quality unused medicines. After completing her PhD, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher and Adviser on Expensive Medicines at Radboudumc, where she focused more broadly on the efficient use of medicines. In October of last year, she joined the Together for greener healthcare team as a postdoctoral researcher.
